In 2024, I fell in love with the rhythm of weaving. I don't know how to play a musical instrument, but I imagine pushing the pedals and sending the shuttle back and forth is like playing the piano. Weaving on floor looms and the TC2 in Woven Structures and Fiber Fabrication courses was a wonderful way to slow down from the business of the world and focus on moving with the loom. I noticed that when my body was tense, I moved the beater unevenly, the selvedge of the weft was wound too tightly, and the resulting fabric was squashed. When I paused to breathe and release the stressors of the world, I wove more fluidly and the resulting fabric was much smoother.

Guiding Question: How might we engage in slow productivity?

A snippet of weaving a Summer Winter pattern that I designed in Fiberworks software.

This is "a weave for collective liberation", experimental TC2 loom weaving (with lots of floats), dedicated to my friend, Efron and inspired by the UO Palestine Coalition and other humans working for collective liberation across the globe.
